Patented technology for preserving long molecular HA chains

While working with the finest minds in Swiss science to evolve the landscape of fillers, MaiLi patented the world’s first OxiFree™ technology to preserve long molecular HA chains. A transformational process enabling a highly efficient crosslinking of HA with 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) – creating a supremely supple, springlike gel with outstanding volume, projection power and longevity.

MaiLi’s OxiFree™ Process

Hydration

High molecular weight, long HA chains are dissolved to form a solution through a hydration system.

Crosslinking

Crosslinking under inert atmosphere is performed with low level of BDDE – transforming the solution into a gel

Extraction

Reactive oxygen species are removed from the gel to better preserve the lightly crosslinked HA network

Sterilisation

The Oxifree™ crosslinked HA network (containing less reactive oxygen species) is better preserved during sterilisation

Due to the natural, long and high molecular weighted HA chains, MaiLi’s Smart Spring science creates a uniquely supple gel with spring-like qualities. Responding exceptionally well to pressure, while working flexibly with natural movement and dynamic expression.

The Art of Gel Placement

After the gel is introduced, it will be supported by either tissue or bone depending on the treatment area, represented by the X & Y axis. The Z axis represents the perpendicular direction from the plane of the support.

Smart Springs

The characteristic movement and behaviour of MaiLi’s OxiFree™ lightly crosslinked HA network can be imagined as a series of smart springs, following the natural movements of the face with supple elasticity.

A gel that’s always connected

The injected gel is in constant contact with the surrounding tissues, represented by the upper layer shown here.

A gel that bounces back from pressure

G’ characterises the tendency of the gel to return to its initial shape (X and Y).

A gel that acts as soft and supple as it looks

E’ characterises the ability of the gel to recover its original form after vertical stress/ movements (Z).

A gel that follows natural movement

FN characterises the gel’s intrinsic resistance to external stresses (Z).

Combined forces

Smart Springs characterises the combination of relatively low G’ (allowing moldability, suppleness) with relatively high Fn and E’ (providing projection capacity). With all facial movements, the applied stresses to the gel will be multidirectional (X, Y and Z). G’, E’ and Fn work together to maintain the form of the gel.
